Playground Mania!

The weather has been cooling down recently so it has been a bit too cool to go to the swimming pool. What to do when you can’t go to the pool... Go to the playground!

It turns out Emma wasn’t a big fan of the slides the day we went with her Godfather and her grand-father, but a few days later she changed her mind and had a blast going down the slides with her grand-mother.

This particular playground is located in the Angrignon Park, where our last photo class took place. The last thing I asked the teacher was to show me a “special photography trick” because I wanted to take an original picture. She showed me how to do this:

Portrait

I love taking portraits; they are my favourite kind of shots. It’s the main reason I started taking photography classes, to learn how to take better portraits. It’s not that I don’t like landscape shots or action shot but when you just had a baby you want to take a million of pictures of them... Very useful to annoy the entire world with by showing them J

I think that I get better every time I go to a class. Today, again, I learned a few new things about taking better portraits outside. All the while trying to prevent Emma from climbing Mount Stroller.

Every time I take portraits of Emma and someone else, I try to remember to ask them to take pictures of me with her. Here are a few of my favourite ones:

Grandpa’s little fairy

Last weekend was Alexia’s 3rd birthday party. It was a “Fairy” themed birthday party and the little girls were all given fairy wings to wear! So cute! However, I made a major “mommy fail” in regards to attending the party... The invitation was somewhat confusing for my mommy brain and I thought the party was at 10am (as the original invitation indicated) but it was actually at 4pm .... oups! As it turns out, we couldn’t go at 4pm, so we went earlier to give the birthday fairy her fairy gift.

Seeing Alexia next to Emma was so weird because I had just recently come across a picture of both of them last year at Alexia’s 2nd birthday party. What a difference a year makes!

We came back home where we were having my father over for dinner and Emma used the occasion to show off her brand new fairy wings to her grandpa!

Emma loves her grandpa; she’s like grandpa’s little girl! Actually in this case I should say “grandpa’s little fairy”

Here she is showing how much she enjoys playing with her “grand-papa” J

Arboretum

The Morgan Arboretum is a 2.45 square kilometers forested reserve, situated on the McGill University Macdonald Campus in Ste. Anne de Bellevue on the western tip of the island of Montreal.

I love going to the Arboretum. It is not only peaceful, but you also have the impression of being very far away in a forest. Best of all, they grant 500 dog passes every year! When you have a dog pass, you dog can tag along UNLEASHED on 3 of the 5 available trails. It is truly a dog’s paradise.

A few years ago, I had a few months off between 2 jobs, and I used to bring my dogs every morning for a long walk. I had only been back a few times since then and this year we obtained one of the dog passes, with the intention of bringing Emma and the dogs.

Today was the first time I was using the dog pass and Kyra and Maya were ecstatic! Emma enjoyed it too, although she did lose her pink sippy cup along the 3km trail that we were following.

A few days before we had taken Emma to the Ecomuseum for the second time (the Arboretum and the Ecomuseum are actually neighbours and are sharing the same wood area) and she met a young caribou, a deer, a raccoon and a few other new friends. Good times!
